Charitable Donations Minimize

While the OSC is a great place to meet new people and have a lot of fun, our main purpose is raising funds to help out the people associated with Dyess, the military community as a whole, and the local community of Abilene.

The Dyess OSC has historically given away over $20K to charity each year because of the hard work and dedication of its members.

Thrift Shop Minimize
Greetings all!

As you all know, the Thrift Shop will be losing many volunteers this summer to PCS which will leave many holes to be filled.  Since you have all spent quite a bit of time in the store you know first hand how important the store is to Dyess and the community and more importantly how vital the volunteers are to the store itself.  If you know anyone who you think would be willing to come on board as a volunteer, please send them on over to talk with either Mimi or I and to see what we are all about!

That being said, I would like to say a special HUUUUGE thank you to Heather Yardley who has stepped up to be our Tuesday manager next year and to Cristie Arnold who has volunteered to take over the paperwork side of the store.  We still really need someone to be a Thursday and a Saturday manager.  These duties can be split very easily!  With one person doing the paperwork, the day managers just need to be there to prepare and open the store, run the register, and close which is really just a drawer count and a bank deposit at the end of the day.  You are all familiar with the consignment policies and our regular operating procedures so things should run quite smoothly.
The pay isn't so good...okay there is no pay...  but the rewards truly are great!  Let me know if you have any questions or would like to learn a little more about volunteering at the Thrift Shop.  It would really be tragic to have to close the store!!!!!!!

Please contact us at dyessosc@yahoo.com or call the Thrift Shop if you are interested in volunteering!
